Innumerable Stars 2021

Hello! It’s Innumerable Stars time, and I’m so excited to see what you create for me! All of the prompts below are entirely optional, and I don’t actually have specific prompts for every requested tag, and if you have an idea already please don’t feel bound by my ideas, or by the worldbuilding tags—those are all things I am intrigued by, but the list is by no means exhaustive. You can also find letters for previous IS and other exchanges under this same tag in my Dreamwidth.

DNW: No really graphic violence (canon-typical is fine). Canon-divergence AUs are fine, but nothing that takes it out of the canon world--no coffee shop AUs or whatever, in other words. No smut, please, or incest, etc. I would also not like anything movie-verse, especially for The Hobbit. I also would not like to read fic in which Elros and/or Elrond outright hate their parents, or call Maglor "Father" (he’s absolutely a father figure but he’s not their father, if that makes sense).

Really I just want to see more Gilraen, and Gilraen interacting with people. There’s so much scope here to explore her character and her relationships, at home with the Dunedain and in Rivendell, as she adjusts to new surroundings—going either way, when she comes to Rivendell or at the end of her life when she leaves it to return to her own people. And of course there’s always other guests coming and going from Rivendell and her perspective on them (or theirs on her) would be neat.

Elrond has so many different kinds of relationships with so many different kinds of people, and he sees so much throughout his life. Quiet moments where he doesn’t have to be the Master of Rivendell would be really lovely. I’d really like to see him getting to know Bilbo once Bilbo settles into his retirement, and how they get from Host and Guest to good friends who can tease each other like they do in the Hall of Fire and at the Council in FOTR, or maybe how his friendship with Bilbo impacts his relationship with Frodo, both before and after the Quest.

This is the hobbit request! For the Ring Bearers I am always interested in seeing them post-War of the Ring or in Valinor, as Frodo heals from his various and many traumas, and Bilbo gets a brand new appreciative audience for his poetry. Sam in Valinor, too, would be really lovely—outside of his reunion with Frodo, although I would also really like to see that. Or Sam as mayor!

I was also delighted and intrigued by the Dora Baggins tags because she gets a single mention in FOTR as being a font of good advice, and she is also Frodo’s aunt which makes her even more closely related than Bilbo, and I’d love a young Frodo paying his aunt a visit, or vice versa.

The Took siblings just sound like they get up to all kinds of shenanigans as children and that would be really delightful. Alternately, Pippin finding out what his sisters were doing while he was away would be really cool as well.

Arwen and hobbits is a delightful image, and I’d really like just about anything—hobbits coming and going from rebuilt Annuminas, or making the journey down to Minas Tirith, or maybe even an encounter with the earliest hobbits who came into Eriador finding refuge in Rivendell?

I have never seen The Old Took requested before, and I don’t think I’ve ever read any fic about him! That’s a shame, as he must have had some delightful adventures in his youth, and I’d love an exploration of his relationship with Belladonna (or any of his other children, really!). And I’m always here for the adventures of the Famous Belladonna Took!

I’d also love to know what Radagast got up to post-Hobbit events, and how he got along with all his neighbors. Beorn seems to approve of him. And what’s Rhosgobel like?

As for Bilbo and Beorn: Bilbo spends quite a while at Beorn’s house on his way home, and any little gapfiller for that time would be marvelous.

This is the half-elven request bunch. I just love this whole family so much! I’d love to see Elwing in Valinor, whatever she does when Earendil’s off sailing in space, and also what they do together when he comes back down (I do not like the version where they’re parted forever!). I’d be really delighted with any way she bends the rules about going back to mortal lands so she can visit Elros, as well.

I’d really like early Second Age Elrond, as he finds his footing after the War of Wrath, both before and after Elros leaves for Numenor.

For Elured and Elurin—I always love to see them survive Doriath, however that may happen, but seeing them in Mandos or reborn in Valinor would also be neat. I have no idea what an encounter between them and Celegorm would look like, after everything, but it would be fascinating.

Earendil and Maeglin sometime after Maeglin returns from Mandos—I’d like to see some kind of reconciliation, I think. Or at least some kind of closure.

For all the Melian and Thingol prompts I’d really like post-Mandos Valinor reunions, and Melian meeting the in-laws, as it were. How weird does Olwe think it is that his brother married a Maia?

I also would very much like to see Daeron and Luthien as friends, maybe when they’re very young or before Beren shows up, but also I don’t want him to be a creep.

For Maglor I am a sucker for the Maglor-throughout-history trope and wherever and whenever you’d like to stick him would be amazing. Daeron too, come to that—there should be more Daeron-throughout-history fics.

I have requested both Finduilas and Gil-galad because I am also a sucker for the Finduilas-is-Gil-galad AU/theory and however you want to play that would be fantastic. Alternately, Finduilas in or post-Mandos would be interesting, and also Gil-galad post-Mandos would be neat because he’s the longest-reigning and most successful High King of the Noldor in Beleriand and I’d really like to see various people’s takes on that.
