adventures in polling
Nov. 4th, 2025 11:06 pmI couldn't decide whether to reembody Maedhros with one hand or both hands for the Maedhros-goes-back-to-ME AU that's my Leaf & Lore project, and so I decided to let the internet decide for me, and made a tumblr poll, and

This is the funniest possible ratio and I owe that 155th voter my life because I'm pretty sure they decided it. I don't know what I would've done if it had ended with a 50/50 result. Laughed until I cried, probably, and then flipped a coin? I genuinely did not expect it to be this close.
Anyway, bringing Maedhros back from Mandos with both hands! Now I can actually get started on the fic...or the first fic, since I already know this is going to turn into a series--I can't cover 2/3 of the Third Age in a single coherent fic. What I really want is to write the War of the Ring with Maedhros getting involved (no, he's not joining the Fellowship--but he's not staying home either), but there's a lot of groundwork that needs laying first.
Also when I made the poll I set it to run for 3 days and I did not intend to have it end on election night, because I'd forgotten that today was election day (I voted by mail last month), but it's kind of a funny coincidence.
