Reading Wednesday
May. 12th, 2021 03:15 pmI did a Reading Wednesday post like two weeks ago with high hopes of doing it regularly and then...didn't read for like two weeks. So that's fun. Anyway, I did finish a book yesterday!
Murder on Cold Street, by Sherry Thomas--the fifth book in Thomas' Lady Sherlock series, featuring Charlotte Holmes & Co. It was very good, though Olivia and Mrs. Watson weren't as big characters in this one and I missed them. The plot was trying to exonerate Inspector Treadles who was accused of a double murder on account of being found covered in blood in a locked room with the two bodies--so that sort of whodunit. This series is very good and I am really enjoying it.
I am also working my way through King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo. It's slow going but that's entirely on me because I cannot focus on it for some reason even though I love Nina and I am intrigued by Nicolai and Zoya and I love the world. I read enough of the Shadow and Bone trilogy (I still aspire to go back and finish eventually? But I can't make myself care about Alina for some reason) to understand who the Darkling is, though, and if the book really does go in the direction at least one character thinks it's going (the Big Bad who definitely died before is COMING BACK), I am going to be very annoyed.
