Reading Wednesday

starsprayFirst Reading Wednesday of 2024! Because last Wednesday I hadn't read anything in the new year and the end of December had a lot of short stories and stuff to bump me up to my Goodreads goal, which I did in fact meet.
Anyway, thus far this year I've read:
The Queer Principles of Kit Webb, by Cat Sebastian - I liked this quite a lot! I'd read Sebastian's We Could Be So Good last year and so grabbed her Highwaymen books from the library. It's a good thing that I knew there was another book, because there are several threads left unfulfilled at the end of this. I did like that Percy first appears in Kit's coffee shop all dandied up, in like a powdered wig and makeup with a beauty mark stuck to his face, because I'm not sure I've read any other historical romance where anyone actually wears that stuff, and it was very funny to have Kit be all like "oh no he's hot" right off the bat. Their romance was very nice, but the rest of the plot left a little to be desired. Percy's father is supposed to be the main antagonist, and he's built up to be really horrible, but he appears on page like three times and I think has even fewer actual lines, in which he's just kind of vaguely unpleasant. But it was a fun time and I'm looking forward to finding out wtf is up with Rob and Marian in the next book, because both of them were just frustrating sources of unresolved mystery in this one.
