Innumerable Stars 2017 Letter
Aug. 12th, 2017 05:05 pmHello, dear Author/Artist!
Please don't feel completely bound to whatever prompts you find in this letter; whatever you come up with, I'm sure I will love!
In general, I love worldbuilding and character studies, and many of the relationships I've requested, I did so because they have the potential to be so delightfully complicated.
But What I Don't Want: No smut, incest, or really graphic violence (canon-typical is fine), or major character death, please. Canon-divergence AUs are fine, but nothing that takes it out of the canon world--no coffee shop AUs or whatever, in other words.
The Hobbit: Gandalf, Elrond & Bilbo, Beorn & Radagast
Gandalf: I'd like to read anything about Gandalf and his travels--this guy's been everywhere, and has met so many different kinds of people. Or a story about his friendship with the Old Took.
Elrond & Bilbo: I'd like to see their friendship developing, maybe during Bilbo's first couple of visits to Rivendell. Or later, I imagine Elrond was a great (and very patient) resource for Bilbo when he was working on his translations.
Beorn & Radagast: Beorn speaks well of Radagast in The Hobbit--I'd like to know how they met, and what Radagast may have done to impress Beorn.

The Lord of the Rings: Goldberry/Lady of the Blue Brooch, Elrond & Maglor, Elladan & Elrohir & Arwen, Aragorn & Elrond, Goldberry, Elrond, Eowyn, Faramir, Faramir/Eowyn, Faramir & Frodo
Goldberry/Lady of the Blue Brooch: Who was the lady, and whatever happened to her?
Goldberry: I like Goldberry the mischievous river spirit, and a force in the Old Forest complementary to Tom Bombadil. We only see her in the autumn in FotR--what does she get up to during the other seasons?
Elrond & Maglor: A meeting--chance or not--between Elrond & Maglor sometime after the First Age would be great.
Aragorn & Elrond: I would like to see a story about them when Aragorn is an adult, perhaps having returned to Rivendell after one of his many journeys.
Elrond: I'm actually quite interested in Second Age Elrond--before the war with Sauron and the foundation of Rivendell. What's he get up to when he's not doing herald things for Gil-galad?
Eowyn: She says in RotK that she's going to give up shieldmaiden-ing forever in favor of becoming a healer, but I like better the idea that she eventually finds a balance between the two--a story about that would be lovely. Her adjusting to life in Ithilien would be great, too, perhaps making friends with the Elves that Legolas brings to settle there.
Faramir: He had the "seek the sword that was broken" dream several times before Boromir had it and they went to Denethor for advice--I wonder if he tried to figure out its meaning on his own? A look at his scholarly side would be interesting.
Faramir/Eowyn: I'd love to see something about them building their princedom in Ithilien, and figuring out how to blend their two very different cultures.
Faramir & Frodo: I'd like to see their reunion after Aragorn's coronation.

The Silmarillion: Dior Eluchil, Nellas, Rian, Emeldir, Elrond & Earendil, Elrond & Tuor, Elrond & Melian, Elrond & Thingol, Nimloth/Dior, Elured & Elurin & Elwing, Earendil, Maglor & Elrond, Elros & Elrond
Dior Eluchil: I'd really love to see a story about his childhood, and his relationship with his parents. Or something exploring his relationship with his own children, either in Ossiriand or in Doriath.
Nimloth/Dior: How did they meet? What was their courtship like?
Nellas: I love stories about Nellas post-fall of Doriath, whether she goes to Sirion or goes in search of other forests farther east. Or perhaps a look at what she was doing during the Beren and Luthien episode?
Rian: She is said to be a singer and maker of songs, and I'd love to see that part of her explored.
Emeldir: I would really like to know what happens to her after she gets her people to Brethil. Does she stay there, or does she go on to Dor-lomin? What's her reaction to the stories that reach her, wherever she ends up, about Beren?
Elrond & Earendil: I'd love to see their reunion after Elrond makes it to Valinor.
Elrond & Tuor; Elrond & Melian; Elrond & Thingol: I don't have anything particularly specific for each of these, just delight at the thought of Elrond meeting each of them for the first time.
Elrond & Maglor: I requested this for LotR as well, so see above.
Elros & Elrond: Something set just after the War of Wrath would be nice. Eonwe spends some time going around teaching the Edain things--it would make sense that Elrond gets in on that as well, being Elros' brother.
Elured & Elurin & Elwing: It is my personal headcanon that Elured and Elurin survived the First Age, and I would love to see their eventual reunion with Elwing, whenever they decide to sail West. Alternatively, their return from Mandos would be interesting, especially if they return to life the same age they were when they died (is that how Mandos works? I have no idea).
Earendil: A slice of life sort of things on board Vingilot would be really interesting. Does he fly around alone, or does he take the occasional passenger? How much detail can he see of events in Middle-earth?
